Informative Data Reporting & Visualisation

Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) provide impactful business support services for start-ups, organisations experience growth or those seeking investment. The support available is designed to make businesses more resilient, sustainable and inclusive, with economic benefits trickling through to the entire region.
Throughout 24-25, businesses of all sizes engaged in the full range of CWAC’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) economic support, with projects implemented and delivered by a number of experienced partners. This included a mix of delivery one to one, online and through physical locations.
The Challenge
TMC’s brief was to to support CWAC in documenting, evidencing, strategically commentating and celebrating the UKSPF Year 3 activities, outlining project funding and results across the wider area and businesses involved. This document would be a useful tool for Senior Councillors and/or their teams, to provide data and insights about the programme’s initiatives and results.

“The report produced by TMC for the Council’s year 3 UK Shared Prosperity Fund highlighted the impact of the programme across a wide geography and sectoral base. Through the use of high quality imagery and informative case studies the report has been well received by both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.”
Iain Paton – Business Growth Manager Economic Growth, Cheshire West and Chester
Our Solution
Throughout the project, TMC implemented a cross departmental approach, co-ordinating Project Management, Digital Marketing and Studio support. This included digital content creation, as well as photography and videography of local businesses to serve as case study content.
Collating this report relied on gathering the relevant results and data from CWAC and the network of partner organisations involved throughout the programme. To ensure this information was captured, it was important to highlight the sections and topics required in the report in order to gather the relevant information needed for each chapter.
Once this was completed, questions and suggestions were presented back to the senior decision makers at CWAC. At this stage, it was important to highlight the most relevant information to keep the document informative yet succinct.
When designing the format and delivery of the document, our Studio team ensured continuity in the existing branding and tone of voice, to create consistency and therefore enhance reader recall throughout all collateral. Additionally, the report needed to be accessible as a local authority document, being both easy to read and understand, with clear sign-posting, minimal jargon and clear formatting.

The Result
The reporting and visualisation of these programmes throughout 2024–25 provided the Business Support Team with valuable insight, enabling them to prioritise and focus activity effectively within a changing budget for 2025–26.
The robust evidence collected during the UKSPF period will play a crucial role in continuing to inform and strengthen the case for the continuation of business support in the future, accompanied by this detailed report.

“It was a real pleasure working on the report with the featured businesses, Business Growth team colleagues and TMC. In presenting direct impacts on a selection of individual businesses and across the borough more widely, the final report clearly illustrates the value of providing local business support programmes to stimulate growth. It should also be noted that benefits were felt by many other parties including the programme delivery partners, local suppliers, customers, employees and communities. ”
