Did you know that only 4.8% of adults with learning disabilities across Cheshire are in paid employment?
This statistic is only slightly behind the national average of 6%.
It’s something that The Petty Pool Trust are actively trying to change, and in January, TMC were proud to welcome Gareth Edwards, Emma Myles and the wider team from The Petty Pool Trust to The Space, where they hosted an engaging workshop on inclusive employment for young people with SEND.
In preparation for our collaboration on projects throughout the next year, this workshop was the perfect way to gain insight into their inclusive employment programmes and how organisations across the region can support their digital curriculum.
A selection of the TMC senior management team also held a Q&A session where students from Petty Pool had the opportunity to ask any questions they had about agency life, ranging from starting a business and the tools we use, to what we enjoy about our work and whether formal qualifications are essential for a career in the industry.
The message from Petty Pool is clear; young people with SEND can thrive in the workplace when they’re given the right environment, support, and belief. Work experience shouldn’t be just another box-ticking exercise.
Petty Pool work hard to ensure all learners receive positive work opportunities, with hands-on experience, that help them to shape their future ambitions and goals. Partnerships with employers who truly understand inclusive values make a real difference to learners’ confidence, aspirations, and future pathways when it comes to employment.
We look forward to working further on this partnership throughout the rest of 2026!
