TMC Strategic Communications

During the continued 2024 Future Vision Work Experience programme in August, two students joined TMC to explore the possibilities available within the industry and to take the next steps in their career. Throughout the week, schedules reflected interdepartmental collaboration within a marketing agency, with tasks based around Studio, 3D, Marketing, Client Services, and Digital. The week concluded with career-based activities.

Work Experience - Ciaran

The Work Experience Itinerary

The entire week focused itself around students developing a marketing strategy for a pre-established, recognisable brand, chosen by themselves at the beginning of the week. This would be influenced by the knowledge and tasks set by different departments, building it to completion within one final presentation.

*Students were given the opportunity to pick a well-known brand as their fictional ‘client, which have no affiliation with TMC.

At the beginning of the week, students established their initial framework for the upcoming tasks, where they selected a client to work with and developed a sub-brand focused on sustainability. Additionally, they had the opportunity to work with the video team, learning about the shooting process and gaining experience in filming and editing.

Throughout the week, tasks included creating tonal value and branding guidelines, which were then incorporated into completed social media content calendars featuring images and captions. There was also a chance to explore SEO and its application in website copywriting, as well as designing 3D models using the client’s colour palette.

Client services provided insights into competitor research and quality control processes, while the Digital team shared knowledge about website development before students created their own sub-brand landing page. The week concluded with a focus on career development, which included mock interviews, CV workshops, and presentation skill tasks with feedback from senior management team members.
