Siemens
Customer Culture Campaign
Siemens UK is a powerhouse of technology. With departments spanning an abundance of specialities, requiring a wide breadth of skills and roles, the organisation relies on effective communication unlike any other. Each team within the business has a responsibility to provide an exceptional product or service, both for external and internal customers.
For relationships between colleagues, departments, and business functions to thrive, each team member must be able to recognise the elements required to maintain a positive culture and work towards supporting it. To encourage any form of organisational culture change, it is widely recognised that the most effective outcomes come from within. Employee-owned, but with the guardrails of a more complex strategic plan.
TMC worked in collaboration with the Siemens Business Excellence team to devise an employee-centric campaign, that could be rolled out across all business units and positively influence their Net Promoter Score.
Our Solution
The campaign relied on the idea of small changes creating a big impact. Small tweaks to the language used by team members, subtle changes to processes, visual reminders of how much influence each team member truly held.
To understand employee perceptions and bring in ‘project champions’, TMC ran an initial pre-launch workshop with Siemens employees. Representatives of different departments attended to participate in interactive sessions and training exercises, having the opportunity to share their personal opinions on the current culture and their needs from a service perspective.
The feedback and response from the initial workshop not only provided a wealth of information about positive characteristics to uphold, but also inspired a second session, to drive forward specifics of the campaign. This workshop included;
- Team-building activities, designed to inspire trust
- Presentations and challenges
- Videography
- Professional photography studio, to capture headshots and stills of the Project Champions for campaign assets

The Process
Defining the campaign taglines; ‘turning the dial from good to great’ and ‘you don’t have to be customer-facing, to be customer-focused’ were the next steps in building out everything needed for the company-wide rollout. TMC developed a supportive bank of collateral, assets, messaging, communications plans and other materials to arm the Project Champions with everything they needed.
As a final step, TMC supported the team in creating a strategic presentation, speaker script, gamified table activities, breakout sessions and branded UGC installations for their annual Leadership Summit.
140 senior leaders, managers, business drivers, and project champions of Siemens UK gathered at the event to drive progress and exchange ideas. Here, the CEO championed the project, inspiring all attending to drip feed the core campaign messaging back to their respective business units.
