The Christie

Corporate Sponsorship Films

Concept and deliver a series of short films, focusing on the impact of The Christie Charity; motivating sponsors to help create a brighter future for the patients of The Christie through fundraising events.

As the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe, The Christie treats more than 60,000 patients a year. Ultimately, this transformative organisation improves the treatment journey of those suffering with cancer, for the better. Having recognised opportunities to advance their care for patients and families through the help of sponsors, the charity actively look for new ways to enhance their digital marketing to help build new relationships.

Having collaborated with The Christie to film their ‘Walk of Hope’ fundraising event in early 2023, TMC were approached again to help develop content for a new campaign, documenting the experiences of sponsors and those who have positively contributed to the charity. A series of short films would aim to evoke an emotional response in viewers while celebrating the existing network of supporters, ultimately leading to new sponsor opportunities and enhanced awareness of the incredible fundraising carried out by the charity.

Our Solution

The short films needed to provide an in-depth insight of the range of volunteers who have a relationship with The Christie, whether as a patient or a sponsor. Each would need to provide their own personal take on why The Christie should be supported, to motivate viewers to engage with the calls to action.

As part of the project planning, storyboards and shot lists were developed, designed around long-form interviews integrated with b-roll cutaways. A brightly lit and comfortable setting from within the cancer treatment centre set an authentic tone and helped those being filmed relax into the interview. The authenticity and setting were significant, in that they were symbolic of the types of relationships individuals can expect with The Christie – reassuring, comforting and supportive.

The interview questions chosen were bespoke to each interviewee, designed to encourage honest and emotive conversation. Having gathered insight and context from The Christie, TMC aided in creating a space for the speakers to provide their own account of how sponsorship can help change the lives of those suffering.

Honest Insight

With such a highly sensitive topic, it was important to consider how to best portray the genuine emotions of each speaker. Multiple camera angles were chosen to provide setting context and the more intimate parts of the conversation. A selection of b-roll shots from treatments, alternative rooms, and the exterior of the building were also selected to be filmed, evidencing the use of funding.

Once all footage was collected, the editing process could begin. Here, the most effective snippets of interviews, angles, and b-roll were collated into a 5:40 video, using titles and lower thirds to enhance the verbal conversation. Once finalised into a powerful, human-centric piece, the colour grading process provided a seamless finish.

Aiming to generate a wide reach as a shareable asset, each interview was segmented and repurposed into social clips and soundbites. These were published through a selection of social platforms, targeting potential corporate sponsors and driving them to take action.

TMC’s collaboration with those organisations creating positive change, allows our team to apply our skill and discipline to those projects that have true impact on our communities and wider society.
