TMC’s mission is to create positive impact. Whether providing excellence for our clients, caring for our community or sharing knowledge across our respective skill-sets. But to truly generate positive change, we have often found the most substantial impact comes from when we start from within.
We believe that leadership isn’t defined by a job title. It’s about the way we show up for each other, how we support our teams, and how we contribute to a positive, productive culture.
This has led to our recent investment and commitment to a series of line-manager training sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of what makes a strong leader. The goal behind the programme is simple but powerful: to equip our people with the skills and confidence they need to step into leadership roles, build strong relationships, and ultimately achieve their career progression goals.
Working with an external trainer and offering access to the sessions more broadly, we’re challenging the idea that leadership starts when you have direct reports. Instead, we’re embedding the mindset, tools and behaviours of great management across the organisation from the ground up.

“Anyone who is being managed should not be passive in that relationship” – Tim McCloud, CEO
These sessions are designed to support both personal and professional development in a practical, empowering way through teaching our teams how to nurture strong internal relationships, built on a foundation of understanding.
“Line manager training has given me the opportunity not only to reflect on my own managerial skills but take a deeper dive into specific elements involved in being a well-rounded manager. Using frameworks taught in the training, I have been able to digest and apply them directly to my day-to-day role as a manager.” – Lucy Croft, Marketing Manager
By attending these sessions, employees are gaining the knowledge of what effective leadership looks like in even the smallest of ways, equipping them with the confidence and tools required to implement those principles in their current roles. Whether it’s learning how to support colleagues, manage feedback constructively, or build trust and communication within a team, the focus is on skills that help encourage growth and develop healthy working relationships.
The sessions have included themes such as;
- Balancing professional and personal relationships
- What makes an inspiring leader or role model?
- Empowering through coaching
- Embracing diverse learning styles
- The employee lifecycle
- Celebrating neurodiversity in the workplace

“I found the line manager training sessions incredibly valuable: engaging, insightful, and full of practical examples which I can apply within my current role. I thought that the shoelace task was an ideal reflection of how different learning styles define the way the team operates and engages with each other through different phases of development.” – Samara Smith, Account Executive
“I’ve really enjoyed the line manager training – it’s given me useful tools to strengthen my relationships across the wider TMC team and helped me grow both personally and professionally. It’s been great collaborating with others, sharing ideas and experiences, and Sarah’s delivery has been amazing! She makes each session informative, practical and inspiring, and I always look forward to what’s next.” – Katie Smith, Account Executive
“The Celebrate Neurodiversity workshop was an incredible opportunity to recognise and better support the unique strengths of individuals in the workplace. For me, it highlighted how building a team with diverse learning styles can lead to greater creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration.
It has made me appreciate and understand how neurodivergent individuals often bring exceptional talents, and how important it is to build teams that celebrate and harness those differences.” – Chloe Bebbington, Account Manager
Just as importantly, the programme encourages open dialogue and deeper understanding between current and future line managers. By including everyone in the conversation, we’re creating a shared language and mutual respect around leadership expectations. This helps both managers and direct reports understand each other’s roles more clearly, paving the way for stronger, more collaborative working relationships.
Ultimately, the training is about unlocking potential. This approach embodies our belief in growing from within, giving every team member the opportunity to step forward, lead with confidence, and shape their own path at TMC. As the sessions continue, we’re already seeing the impact; increased engagement, better communication, and a sense of shared responsibility for our culture and our future.
Because when a desire for accountability and ownership is part of the culture, everyone benefits.
