The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) connects the global cardiology community on their mission to reduce the burden of Cardiovascular Disease through education, advocacy and policy. Each August, they host ESC Congress, their annual flagship event that unites over 30,000 cardiologists across Europe.
Following successful partnerships in 2023 and 2024, ESC collaborated with TMC in 2025 for their global congress communications campaign. This included the concept, creation and delivery of a data-driven omni-channel strategy, designed to maximise delegate registrations, broaden geographical reach, and tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
In 2025, the strategic approach bought together ESC’s milestone 75th anniversary, the core congress theme of ‘Cardiology Beyond Borders’ and the iconic partnership with World Congress of Cardiology.

The Partnership
From the development of the strategic narrative, key messaging, channel strategy and stakeholder management, to content creation, design, motion and strategic reporting, TMC were proud to once again partner with the ESC Communications Team in elevating brand awareness and driving both scientific submission and registration.
The campaign was divided into four main phases; each aligned with the delegate journey and congress milestones:
Phase One
Focused on abstract and clinical case submissions, building anticipation and setting the foundation for audience engagement.
Phase Two
Focused on driving delegate registrations and increasing event awareness, highlighting deadlines, building excitement around the Scientific Programme, the associated events happening throughout the congress dates.
Phase Three
This phase highlighted the release of Late-Breaking Science and Guidelines, maximised registration through deadline-driven messaging, and promoted the full congress experience.
Phase Four
Finally, sustained engagement by highlighting daily science and key sessions, while extending the impact through post-event resources and wider community outreach.
Additionally, throughout the campaign, the communications contained personalised secondary messages for different segments, ensuring that every audience segment found relevant value in participation. Each phase was underpinned by clear objectives, defined target audiences, and a tailored communications mix, ensuring maximum resonance and impact.

The Impact
This campaign reinforced the power of a fully integrated, data-led omni-channel strategy. By aligning email, social, paid media and peer-to-peer communications, it successfully drove both awareness and registrations, with clear evidence that coordinated messaging amplifies impact.
Audience segmentation and personalised communications were particularly effective, demonstrating that tailored engagement, especially among professional member groups, significantly improves performance. Results from each phase show increases in website users (+19.6%) and sessions (26.7%), abstract submissions (+4%) and clinical case submissions (+29%) when compared to the relative phase from the previous year’s Congress campaign. Phase four highlighted a +24% increase in total registrations achieved, compared to 2024.
