Digital Marketing Masterclasses

Within the first and second quarters, deliver eight virtual and in-person masterclasses, focused on the upskilling of businesses' digital practices within the local area.

Digital Cheshire is a fully funded support programme that empowers SME’s to improve their digital skills with tailored support and access to digital infrastructure. Through full day and virtual digital marketing masterclasses, alongside fibre connectivity, the programme has helped hundreds of small businesses take their performance to the next level.

In early 2024, the Digital Cheshire programme was reignited to deliver the next chapter of small business support across Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, and Warrington. Driven by the four local authorities across these boroughs, the objectives of the programme are to provide digital learning and assistance to as many local SME’s as possible, to stimulate the economy and build positive networks and relationships.

TMC were selected as the delivery partner for the 2024-2026 course, working alongside Digital Cheshire. Within this they would drive awareness of the support available, alongside the concept, creation and hosting of 24 virtual and 24 in-person masterclasses, alongside 8 networking events across the region.

Our Solution

To ensure those SME’s eligible for the fully-funded support were reached, LinkedIn sponsored content was launched.  This used highly specific targeting across the North-West. Customised imagery and messaging were created and tested using A/B campaigns to appeal to SME’s by highlighting common challenges they face, driving website visits where potential delegates could complete a registration form which triggered a diagnostic call by the Digital Cheshire team. Additional campaigns were launched as needed to ensure the ads remained effective.

In addition, an email marketing campaign was implemented to reach specific users from businesses in key areas. Campaigns were targeted to areas that were geographically relevant for the next series of in-person masterclasses. This worked in addition to mass sends on the virtual masterclasses, accessible for those who couldn’t travel to a venue.

Delivery of Digital Marketing Masterclasses

Virtual masterclasses would be delivered via Microsoft Teams, chosen for its interactive features such as polls, quizzes and breakout rooms. Covering a range of topics from Introduction to Digital Marketing to Social Media Success, highly interactive presentations were created. These would offer opportunities for personalised support and on-screen tutorials. The four-hour classes aimed to provide three actionable takeaways for attendees.

In-person masterclasses followed similar formats across a full day, held in locations across all four local authorities. Sessions allowed for high levels of interaction, tutoring and Q&A with the presenters, increasing engagement and undertaking live problem-solving. With class sizes ranging from 15 to 35, the sessions are intimate but also provide great opportunities for networking.

To ensure SME’s are offered the maximum digital support, TMC provide the Digital Cheshire team with in-depth reporting and impact measurement. This would identify if areas of improvement, trends and feedback, to continually tailor and refine the programme.
