Isotech have developed a reputation as pioneers in Temperature Calibration and Measurement through 40 years of exceptional service and expert insight. Synonymous with calibration needs of all kinds, their solutions cater to primary laboratories maintaining National Standards, through to field engineers calibrating industrial sensors on site.

Having built a loyal customer base with iconic global brands such as Bentley and NASA, their niche offering is one that will always be required by those who need dedicated laboratory services alongside the most reliable and consistent calibration equipment. One of the challenges that their wider sector faces however, is that of recruiting specialist skills into the business. With a national skills shortage in many areas of manufacturing, additional efforts are needed to inspire, educate and empower the next generation.

Our Solution

Recognising the opportunity to introduce engaging and contemporary commercial video production onto the Isotech website, TMC collaborated with the team to identify two distinct briefs. Each video was rooted in a specific goal; the first centred on recruitment, aiming to help the company reach relevant candidates and highlight the fantastic culture at Isotech. The other had needed to highlight Isotech’s vast operations and their hard-earned reputation as temperature metrology pioneers.

When establishing the fundamentals of a new video project, the TMC’s Studio Team follow a tried and tested process. Balancing two videos with two distinct objectives, each video needed to satisfy a particular set of aims, whilst still maintaining some overlapping content that would appeal to both target audiences.

Referring back to the core objectives during each phase of the process, the initial preparations involved disseminating the original brief into a storyboard that encapsulated each of the critical ‘chapter heads’ whilst resonating with the target audience. Following collaborative feedback sessions with Isotech, the storyboard evolved into a complex narrative from which to guide the filming on site.

The next phase centred on robust research; carrying out location visits to truly understand the spaces available and the relationship between the teams and their work stations. Lighting quality, audio challenges and health and safety regulations are woven into the working documents so that all risks are measured and conditions accounted for.

Adopting a people-focused direction, key members of the Isotech team were briefed on their contribution to the video, taking time to demonstrate the benefits of the project to counteract any nerves! On the day of the shoot, the TMC team project managed the filming to ensure normal operations could continue (so as not to disrupt any production) whilst capturing the team in their most authentic positions.

Combining ‘to camera’ interviews, candid b-roll and incidental macro shots, a rich and varied selection of content was captured, to ensure the final cut remained engaging (even to those who aren’t aware of the complexities of Calibration).

 

Engaging video content

Offering the full breadth of commercial video services, the TMC team used advanced post-production to start building the final edits. This saw key snippets from the interviews taken and interspersed with brand-rich clips from within their offices, laboratory and warehouse, alongside shots of their awards and scientific equipment in use.

Each of the final clips underwent careful colour grading to enhance any on-day dull conditions and produce a sleek, vibrant look. The introduction of Isotech’s brand identity and text snippets further added to the impact of each video and ensured they would still create impact when watched in isolation.

Producing two engaging videos which could be incorporated into multi-platform marketing campaigns, fulfilled the initial brief and provided a further suite of assets to aid Isotech in maintaining their success and growing their team.
